In 1914 Le Corbusier developed the Domino System which gave
birth to several new principles, the 'Five points of a New Architecture'.
With the structural frame of Villa Garche Le Corbusier takes advantage of
the new technologies. With the system of pilotis he frees the levels for
circulation, it allows him a roof garden with a flat roof, an independent
facade with ribbon windows and the free plan. The free plan provides space
for free forms aside from the strict grid. With the aid of the supporting
walls Villa Garche achieves a directionality towards the longitudinal axis
of site. |
